Although the Maremma is universally known as a land of the sea, the culinary tradition is instead very rooted in the land; the extraordinary Tuscan extra virgin olive oil IGP combined with the centuries-old tradition of hunting game offer unique dishes with an unforgettable flavour such as the Maremma tortelli stuffed with chard and ricotta and seasoned with meat sauces, acquacotta, hare pappardelle and wild boar with olives; to name just a few.

The Wine and Flavour Road Colli di Maremma, which embraces thirteen Maremma municipalities and hosts wines of the caliber of Morellino di Scansano DOCG and the four D.O.C. Ansonica dell ‘Argentario, Bianco di Pitigliano, Vermentino di Capalbio and Rosso di Sovana.
The Monteregio di Massa Marittima Wine Route crosses eight towns in the Maremma. The route winds through unspoiled and wild landscapes and places rich in history and culture; from here, discover wineries, wine bars, typical products and artisan shops. Here the wine of choice is the Monteregio DOC in its new red, reserve red and white variants. Also very popular are Vermentino and Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice DOC.
Towards the mountains we find the last born wine road which is the Montecucco and Sapori dellAmiata Wine Route. Montecucco DOC is a wine that stands out for its characteristic flavours, those of a wine born on the slopes of the mountain. Along this road it is possible to discover many excellent food and wine products through a path that winds between Amiata and Maremma. The flavours of the past, enchanting landscapes and artistic beauties welcome the tourist who wants to travel this scenic journey on horseback between two wonderful lands.
